Kalamazoo City Commission meeting: April 15

The Kalamazoo City Commission met on Monday, April 15 and took the following actions:

  • Approved a contract extension with Kendall Electric Inc for $148,699.10 for inventory and non- inventory electrical supplies, and a contract with Alta Planning & Design, Inc. for $149,299 to develop a new intersection upgrade and pedestrian safety plan for The Safe Streets for All program.
  • Rathco Safety Supply was approved for $167,383.10 for pilot cycle track installation on Lovell Street and Stadium Drive, and restriping of Portage Street.
  • Approved a contract with L&T Painting for $179,050 for the Parchment Water Tower Project, and a contract with Division 7 to replace two sections of roof at the Central Pump Facility for $181,600.
  • Peters Construction Company was approved for $199,950 for the relocation of water main on Squires Drive and Inkster Avenue as part of the Water Main Deflection Project. A $225,600 contract with CD Arena LLC for water and wastewater system construction was approved, as well as $55,000 in project contingencies.
  • Adopted a resolution approving a contract for $722,000 with the Michigan Department of Transportation for hot mix asphalt cold milling, resurfacing, and pedestrian improvements for Howard Street, and a resolution setting the salaries of the City Commission appointees (City Manager, City Clerk, and the Internal Auditor).
