Celebrating Earth Day? Kalamazoo Community Foundation’s Love Where You Live Environment Fund is taking donations

Years ago the Kalamazoo Community Foundation launched the Love Where You Live Environment Fund. In honor of Earth Day, we’re taking a closer look at the program.

The Love Where You Live Environment Fund was originally created to preserve and protect Kalamazoo County’s natural environment. Over the years, the foundation learned that a healthy environment is an important piece to the holistic approach to helping individuals and families to live well.

Based on current needs of the community, the Love Where You Live Environment Fund’s purpose evolved in 2023. Today it focuses on funding environmental justice efforts with an emphasis on ensuring the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of people in issues that impact health and sustainability of the environment.

Funds are distributed to organizations working with communities disproportionately impacted by environmental harms and risks (i.e. communities of color, low-income communities, and populations in Kalamazoo County experiencing housing insecurity).

The fund is open to donations and is a great way to celebrate Earth Day. Click here to learn more.
