Fourth of July celebrations planned across St. Joseph County

Many people look forward to celebrating the Fourth of July with friends and family. St. Joseph County will be home to several different celebrations this Thursday.

Colon: The Independence Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. at Colon High School, concluding on South Blackstone Avenue. Following the parade, the midway and food truck alley open at noon on North Blackstone Avenue. A craft show will also run from noon to 4 p.m. just beyond the food trucks. The day’s events also include a free 7:30 p.m. concert by country/western artist Dewayne Spaw. Finally, the fireworks show is scheduled to start at about 9:30 p.m.

Constantine: The Firecracker 4K Fun Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. at Sweetland Stadium. At 11 a.m., the Independence Day Parade travels down Water Street. After that, ice cream will be served at Messiah Lutheran Church until 2 p.m. or while supplies last. “The Sandlot,” from 1993, will be shown at 7 p.m. at Constantine Little League’s field. It will be followed by the village’s fireworks display.

Corey Lake: The first annual Lighted Boat Parade and fireworks show begins at 8:30 p.m. at Horseshoe Pier. The annual fireworks show begins at 9:30 p.m. at Camp Eberhart Beach.

Schoolcraft: Due to construction on U.S. Highway 131, Schoolcraft’s annual Independence Day parade and fireworks will resume in 2025.

Sturgis: Fireworks were displayed during the recent Sturgis Fest. There is no city fireworks event planned for Thursday.

Three Rivers: Skate Dreams TR, 57550 N. Main Street, begins its festivities at 5 p.m. Free water activities, bounce houses, food, and roller skating will be available. A massive water balloon fight begins at 6:30. Fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m.
