Two transported to hospital after driver disregards stop sign in Jefferson Township

A two-vehicle crash Thursday at the intersection of Monette Street and Oil City Road in Jefferson Township sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Allison Sharp, 33, of Elkhart, was driving northbound on Oil City Road when she disregarded the stop sign at the aforementioned intersection. Sharp proceeded to strike the truck of Christopher Coates, 33, of Cassopolis, who was traveling east on Monette.

Sharp and her passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

All parties to the crash were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol and drugs were not a factor, according to police. The crash remains under investigation.
