‘The Imagination of History’ opens tonight at Sturges-Young Center

A local, original musical production will open tonight at the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts in downtown Sturgis. The production is called “The Imagination of History,” and it is a sequel to the 2019 production “The Imagination of Storybooks.”

The production is a collaboration between Ryan Conrod, who wrote and stars in the production, and Sherri Lahrman, the director.

Synopsis: Billie is in the 12th grade at his high school and he is having trouble in one class, history, and in order for him to pass his class and graduate high school, Billie needs to get the help and encouragement to get excited about history like he did with his prior Storybook reading.

The downtown is having a unity event to celebrate the diversity of his community and to celebrate the history of Sturgis and Billie was picked from his history class to represent his high school class. Can his family encourage him to succeed and pass the class? Can his friends at school help him? Can his favorite librarian encourage him to pass his final exam? What the pages of history come to life!

The show will be performed at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 16. Tickets are $10 per person, and can be purchased online here.
