Cass County detectives locate 21 guns, including at least 2 stolen items

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announces that on Monday, July 15, detectives received information about an individual who was a known felon and was in possession of several firearms and possibly selling narcotics.​

The tip stated that the firearms were being held in a travel trailer in Howard Township. Detectives were able to locate the travel trailer. With the assistance of the Pokagon Tribal Police Department, a traffic stop was made on the vehicle and travel trailer in the 2500 block of Lake Shore Drive in Niles. ​

During the investigation, detectives observed through a bedroom window that several firearms were laying on the bed. The 40-year-old male was arrested for being a felon in possession of firearms. A search warrant was executed on the travel trailer. ​

Inside, detectives located 21 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition. After further investigation, it was learned that two of the firearms were stolen. The suspect was lodged at the Cass County Jail on firearms charges. As of Wednesday, July 17, his name is being withheld pending arraignment. Detectives were assisted on scene by the Pokagon Tribal Police Department.​
