Glen Oaks offers free tuition to local grads

Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC), Centreville, is offering free tuition to local high school graduates. Students who graduated in the Class of 2023 or later will be able to earn an associate degree, transfer credits, or earn a career certificate tuition-free at the college.

The statewide effort is part of Michigan’s higher education accessibility initiative. The program hopes to save students up to $4,800 annually.

“This program represents a significant opportunity for our rural community,” said Tonya Howden, vice president of student services at GOCC. “By removing financial barriers, we’re opening doors for talented individuals to pursue their academic and career goals right here at home.”

To be eligible, students must be Michigan residents since July 1 of the previous year, have completed the FAFSA, and have graduated from a Michigan high school or earned an equivalent certificate. They must also enroll full-time at Glen Oaks Community College within 15 months of their high school graduation.

Students who are eligible can enroll in classes at the community college’s fall semester beginning August 26, 2024.
