One person was taken to the hospital after a motorcycle crashed into a deer in Cassopolis, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Joshua Stillwagon, 40, of South Bend, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries after the crash, which happened around 8:58 p.m. Tuesday on Calvin Center Road near Mason Street.

Stillwagon was traveling southbound when a deer ran out in front of him and he was unable to avoid it.

Alcohol was not a factor, a helmet was worn, and deputies are still investigating the crash.

SEPSA Fire and Edwardsburg Ambulance also responded to the crash.
