Cass County hosting tire and hazardous waste collection event

Cass County residents are invited to get rid of unwanted materials during the Cass County Used Passenger Tire and Household Hazardous Waste Collection events on Wednesday, September 25.

The free events will take place from 3-6 p.m. at the Cass County Road Commission located at 340 N. O’Keefe St., Cassopolis. Tires from cars and pickup trucks are accepted as well as a variety of solid waste materials including chemicals, electronics, and metal.

There is no charge for the tires. The road commission will continue to accept tires until 6 p.m. or until two trailers are loaded. No semi or tractor tires will be accepted.

For those wishing to get rid of hazardous waste, up to 300 pounds per vehicle can be dropped off. An additional charge of $1.74 will be applied for each additional pound. Electronics, small appliances, metal items, and anything steel can be dropped off at no charge.
