City of Sturgis contractors will begin sanitary sewer work on North Nottawa Street starting Tuesday, September 3.

The work will involve closing North Nottawa Street to all traffic from Main to Hatch Streets for about three weeks. At the same time, the Department of Public Services will replace water main valves on North Nottawa Street between Chicago and Hatch Streets.

The water repairs will also require brief shutoff periods for water customers in the area. Public Services will be contacting those impacted directly, the City of Sturgis stated.

Detours will be in place during the work, and the city recommends residents find alternate routes if possible.

Caution is advised when traveling in the area. Construction timelines depend on weather, contractor progress, and other factors.
