Two arrested when meth found during traffic stop in Dowagiac

Two people were arrested Tuesday after the Dowagiac Police Department pulled over a vehicle and found methamphetamine inside.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon in the 100 block of Halstead Street in Dowagiac. Officers and detectives conducted the search after a K9 was alerted to the passenger and driver’s side doors of the vehicle. When officers searched the car, they found meth and arrested the driver, a 63-year-old man, and the passenger, a 40-year-old woman. Both were charged with possession of meth.

The names of the two suspects are being held until they are arraigned. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-462-9328 or submit a tip anonymously through a web portal.

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the Dowagiac Police Department were credited with conducting the joint investigation.
