Sturgis DPS: No current evidence to substantiate double homicide rumor

The Sturgis Department of Public Safety, in a statement released Tuesday, September 10, said it is aware of rumors circulating online regarding an alleged double homicide said to have occurred in Sturgis.

Detectives were first made aware of the rumor in the spring of 2024. The department and the Michigan State Police conducted a joint investigation into the matter. At that time, no evidence of a crime or missing persons was found.

Officers were again contacted regarding the rumors on September 10. As of that day, there was no evidence of foul play and no reports of missing persons to substantiate the rumors.

“As with all reported crimes, officers are diligently following up on any information received and will continue to do so,” the department stated.
