A motorcycle driver was injured Thursday night in a crash that happened in Mason Township, Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports that Andrew Trotter, 32, Union, Michigan, was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with injuries from the crash.

The crash happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Cassopolis Road and U.S. Highway 12 in Mason Township. Trotter was traveling eastbound on U.S. 12 when he lost control of the motorcycle. He was thrown from the bike and came to a rest in the ditch.

The motorcycle continued on, hitting a rock before overturning and coming to a rest on the shoulder of the road. Trotter was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to police.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ontwa Township Police Department, SEPSA Ambulance, and Porter Township Fire.
