Local meeting primer: Kalamazoo City Commission

Action will include discussing a 20-year renewable energy contract with Consumers Energy to provide 100% renewable energy.

The Kalamazoo City Commission will meet tonight, Monday, for business including recognitions of Diaper Need Awareness Week, Big Brothers Big Sisters Month, the 15th anniversary of Community Homeworks, and Celebrate Bisexuality Day.​

Commission business begins at 5 p.m. with a Committee of the Whole meeting, followed by a regular business meeting at 7 p.m.​​​​

The Committee of the Whole meeting will include a presentation by Discover Kalamazoo and discussion of proposed ordinances on pedestrians in work zone areas and impeding pedestrian or vehicular passage.​

The regular business meeting will include discussion of a 20-year renewable energy contract with Consumers Energy to provide 100% renewable energy and to retire renewable energy credits annually on the City’s behalf.​
