Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC), Centreville, announced the start of major campus renovations on September 23, 2024, aiming to modernize facilities and enhance student and community experiences. The multi-phase project will impact various areas of the college over the coming year.

The first phase, already underway, focuses on converting former art and design labs in the D Wing 400 area into state-of-the-art spaces for Allied Health and nursing programs. Additionally, the Hagen Theater backstage area will be renovated to accommodate the IT department. This phase is expected to be completed by March 2025.

Following the basketball season in March, the gymnasium will undergo renovations, including new locker rooms, updates to the foyer, coaches’ offices, roof, and interior. The 2025 graduation ceremony will be held at an off-site location due to these renovations.

During the summer break, Phase Three will commence, focusing on revitalizing classrooms on the D Wing 200-level, including lighting and finish improvements.

Throughout the renovations, the college administration is committed to minimizing disruptions to daily operations. While access to some exterior areas of D and B Wings may be temporarily limited, efforts will be made to ensure a smooth flow of campus activities.

“These renovations are a major investment in our future, showing our commitment to top-tier educational facilities,” said Dr. Bryan Newton, president of Glen Oaks Community College. “I am confident these enhancements will enrich our students’ learning experiences and help them achieve their career goals.”
