A driver was injured Thursday after he lost control of his pickup truck and hit a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 12 and Five Points Road in Mason Township.

The crash occurred around 11:17 p.m. Thursday, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Police said Jose Cisneros, 27, of Elkhart, Indiana, was traveling westbound on U.S. 12 when he lost control of his vehicle. The truck hit the roundabout and then came to a rest on U.S. 12 west of the roundabout.

Cisneros was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police say it is unknown if a seatbelt was worn before the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ontwa Township Police Department, SEPSA Ambulance, and Porter Township Fire.
