A special ceremony and presentation is planned this evening at Marcellus Township Wood Memorial Library to honor former library director Christine Nofsinger. Nofsinger recently embarked on a 2,611 mile bike ride across the country and raised nearly $10,000 for the library. She will recount her cross-country adventures in a presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The tight-knit relationship between patrons and the Marcellus Township Wood Memorial Library is the fuel behind the new journey Christine Nofsinger is embarking upon this spring. She will start a nearly 3,000-mile cross-country bike trip with the ambition of raising funds for the Marcellus Library with what she is calling “The Russell Wood Ride.”

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) said in a Friday morning bulletin it plans to fully close a section of Highway M-216, known locally as Marcellus Road or Marcellus Highway. The closure will last two days and will take place from 7 a.m. on Monday, November 9 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10. The closed section will be between Pulver Road and Bent Road in Flowerfield Township, a short distance west of U.S. Highway 131.
