A message from our founder
Watershed Voice is different from other local news sources, and that’s by design. We no longer charge for the news we provide because we believe that information should be accessible to everyone, regardless of how much you bring home each week.
Advertising isn’t a main source of revenue for us like it so often is for news outlets in print and on television. We prefer not to bombard you with ads, and we refuse to be beholden to any corporate interest.
So how do we pay our people and operational costs if subscriptions and advertisers aren’t footing the bill? Well, the vast majority of our funding comes from grants, and donors like you.
While we provide our work to the community free of charge, it isn’t free to produce. And with more news publications closing each year, it’s as important now as it has ever been to support local journalism. Is your website secure?
All payments are processed through Stripe. Stripe is a PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the highest grade of payment processing security. All credit card information is encrypted, sent directly to Stripe and is never sent to our website server. This means that we are PCI compliant and any breach of our website won’t result in stolen credit card information. Learn more here.

Yes! Watershed Voice is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation and designated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and public charity.
