A 54-year-old Sherwood man died as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Fawn River Township early Wednesday morning.

A 54-year-old Sherwood man died as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Fawn River Township early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the crash on US-12 near Sweet Lake Road. Following an investigation into the crash it was determined Alondra Aguilar, a 19-year-old LaGrange (Indiana) woman, was traveling eastbound in a 2007 Nissan Altima when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a westbound 2008 Kia Rio driven by 54-year-old Daniel James Waring, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aguilar as well as Waring’s passenger, 30-year-old Mose W. Bontrager of Bronson, was transported to Sturgis Hospital with severe injuries.

The Sturgis Police, Tri-Township Fire Department, and LifeCare Ambulance Service assisted deputies at the scene.
