Sturgis man killed in single-vehicle crash
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office stated.

A 34-year-old Sturgis man was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Burr Oak Township on Friday, December 27, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a traffic crash on M66 near Blackberry Lane in Burr Oak Township at approximately 11:42 p.m. Friday. The initial dispatch came in response to an iPhone crash detection report.
Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle that had struck a tree. The Sturgis man, whose name has not been given as of Monday, December 30, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office stated.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Lifecare Ambulance, the Burr Oak Fire Department, and Sturgis Towing.
