Sturgis hosting coloring contest for kids in celebration of Public Power Week
Submissions from eligible first, second, third and fourth graders will be accepted through Friday, September 26.

The City of Sturgis is inviting first through fourth graders to show off their talents in a “Public Power Drawing Contest.”
Submissions will be accepted through Friday, September 26. The contest is in celebration of public power week, which runs October 5-11 and celebrates more than 2,000 community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 55 million Americans across 49 states and five U.S. territories.
The rules for the contest are as follows:
1. This contest is open to participants in first through fourth grade in Fall of 2025.
2. Contestants may only submit one entry. Entries MUST include the Coloring Contest form along with the coloring sheet.
3. Submissions will be accepted through Friday, September 26.
4. The winner will be announced the week of October 5 and notified by email.
The selected winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and the chance to be featured in the Michigan Municipal Electric Association’s Currents magazine.
The Coloring Contest form and coloring sheet are available in-person at Sturgis City Hall, 130 N. Nottowa St., and on the city’s website. Completed coloring pages and forms can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall.
“Through the Public Power Coloring Contest, we wish to engage students and the community in a way that will enhance interest and understanding of the role that efficient, safe, reliable, and affordable electricity plays in powering our community,” the City of Sturgis posted on its Facebook page.
