GT Independence, a national financial management services company based in Sturgis, has donated $5,000 to the Sturgis Area Community Foundation (SACF).

The gift, presented to SACF Executive Director Lindsay Aguilar on October 1 during GT Week — the company’s annual celebration — will help support the foundation’s work in meeting critical needs across the community.

Founded in 1967, the Sturgis Area Community Foundation connects local donors and resources to programs that strengthen the Sturgis area. The foundation manages charitable funds, awards community grants and scholarships, and supports initiatives focused on education, health, and economic vitality.

GT Independence and SACF have a long history of collaboration. In 2020, the two organizations created the Sturgis Community Emergency Hardship Fund, which provided $130,000 in grants to residents experiencing financial hardship.

The company employs more than 400 people in the Sturgis area.

Earlier this week, Watershed Voice reported that GT Independence entered into a new partnership with H.I.G. Capital, a global investment firm. The agreement, announced Monday, will provide funding to accelerate growth and expand GT’s services while keeping the Carmichael family as significant stakeholders in the company. John Carmichael will remain CEO, and the company’s executive team will continue in their roles.
