“Your coaches aren’t lying when they tell you how much they appreciate the time and effort that gets put in and the commitment that you have to your sports, your teams, your school, and your community,” Board President Erin Nowak said. “I can’t tell you how many times this season I had people in the public ask me about Three Rivers athletics, especially the volleyball and cross country. (They also said) how cool it is that such a small community is pumping out teams of this caliber.”

Closing the meeting, outgoing Board Trustee John McDonough gave a farewell message. McDonough was appointed in February to complete former Board Trustee Ben Karle’s term, which expires on December 31, 2024. McDonough said he was grateful to have been selected to the board.

“I’ve learned a lot this past year. One of the overwhelming things that I’ve learned is that our district is in such great hands, from the top down,” McDonough said.

Last month, voters elected candidates Amanda Allen and Melissa Patch and re-elected incumbents Julia Awe and Nichole Cover to the Three Rivers Community Schools Board.

“We’re in very, very good hands,” McDonough said. “I’m honored to have served on this board with all of you. Thank you very much. In the future, I hope to be a part of the board once again.”

In addition to McDonough, Melissa Bliss is also outgoing from the school board. The current board vice president, Bliss was elected in 2020.

“Thank you both for all that you have done for our district,” Nash said.

Three Rivers Community Schools is on winter break from Monday, December 23, 2024-Friday, January 3, 2025. The board will have its organizational meeting on Monday, January 13.
