Vehicle Theft Suspects Involved in Pursuit by Deputies

Deputies with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department (SJCSD) engaged in a vehicle pursuit Friday morning that ended in the arrest of one person and an ongoing search for another. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck at approximately 8:10 a.m. for a speeding infraction, according to a press release by Sheriff Mark A. Lillywhite. The vehicle was found to have been stolen, and Deputies believe another stolen vehicle may be related.

Hazardous Waste Collection Taking Place Saturday in Centreville

A Household Hazardous Waste Collection event takes place this Saturday, October 17 at the St. Joseph County Fairground in Centreville. The annual event provides county residents an opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of items that cannot be discarded through residential trash collection or recycling programs.

Three Rivers Multiplex Reopens Today

The GQT Three Rivers 6, the first-run multiplex movie theater at the north end of Three Rivers, is reopening for business today after a long closure. The theater has been closed since March 16 when it responded to the first pandemic-related shutdown order.

Harvest Medical Fundraiser to Feature Food, Rides, Antique Machinery Saturday

An event in Centreville will feature a home-cooked breakfast, live demonstrations of antique farm and sawmill equipment, and wagon rides this weekend. The Old-Fashioned Fall Harvest event will take place Friday evening and for the entire day Saturday on the farm of Melvin and Orpha Hochstetler. It will serve as a medical benefit fundraiser for Mr. Hochstetler.

Fabius Township Approves Special Assessment District

Following a public hearing Wednesday evening, Fabius Township Trustees approved a Special Assessment District (SAD) and a loan to cover work on a private road in the township.

Park Township Schedules Special Meeting for Nottawa Gas Rezoning

The Park Township Planning Commission has set a date for a special meeting regarding a proposed commercial development on M-60. Nottawa Gas, a propane distributor, entered into a Buy and Sell Agreement last March for a property near North Fisher Lake Road, and submitted a request to have the land rezoned for Commercial/Light Industrial in August.
