In the real world, recovery from addiction is often a lengthy and agonizing process, both for the addict and their loved ones. Recovery happens in fits and starts and repeated relapse is almost always part of the marathon road to sobriety. In fact, real world recovery looks less like that The Bold and the Beautiful storyline and more like the public trials being faced by St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough.
Neighbors are organizing in opposition to a proposed propane business on Highway M-60 near Fisher Lake. Nottawa Gas, which is currently located between Nottawa and Colon, is considering purchase of a 14-acre parcel of land on the west side of the highway between North Fisher Lake Road and Wilson Boulevard. Neighbors fear the development will negatively impact their property values and quality of life.

At a regular meeting Tuesday, the Three Rivers City Commission approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding sewer service for the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) dairy in Constantine.
At Tuesday’s regular Three Rivers City Commission meeting, Paul Lippens of the Northville consulting firm McKenna said changes have been incorporated into the document following a 63-day public comment period that began in early June. There are only a few steps remaining before the document becomes official.

Superintendent Ron Moag said a recent masking policy for all students and staff will remain in place at all Three Rivers Community Schools (TRCS) buildings. At a Board of Education (BOE) work session Monday evening, Moag said state agencies like the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) continue to require them despite a Friday Michigan Supreme Court Decision pertaining to the legal legitimacy of pandemic-related Executive Orders from the Governor’s Office.
As the online news magazine Watershed Voice enters the third quarter of its first year in business, staff and volunteers are making a push to ensure the online news magazine has solid footing to remain in business and grow. This Saturday, October 10, they plan to hold a drive-thru fundraiser at the Huss School parking lot at Eighth and Broadway Streets in Three Rivers.
The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners and the Three Rivers City Commission will both hold regular meetings as planned this evening, Tuesday, October 6. Both are accessible via the Zoom online meeting platform, which is also accessible by telephone.
