Paige Nichole Bohne, 21, was announced as arraigned in the case as of 11:30 a.m. Friday. Her child was pronounced dead at the scene in a trailer park home on Thursday.

The mother of a two-year-old child has been charged with open murder and denied bond following the toddler being pronounced dead at the scene in a Sturgis Township trailer park home on Thursday, November 7.
Paige Nichole Bohne, 21, was announced to have been arraigned in the case as of 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 8. St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said Friday that he has sincere appreciation for responding law enforcement officers who made their best efforts to revive the child and who recognized the suspicious circumstances.
“The loss of someone is always difficult, but the loss of a child is especially tragic, and it impacts the whole community,” Bingaman said.
Support services are being made available to the family and to the first responders dealing with this incident, the sheriff’s office said Friday.
Bingaman initially reported that deputies and medical first responders were dispatched to the Memory Lane Trailer Park, located at 25039 US 12, around 12:47 p.m. Thursday for an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful. The child, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Major Crimes Task Force was activated because of the child’s death. Following an investigation, Bohne was taken into custody for involuntary manslaughter and lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail.
The Sturgis Police Department, Michigan Department of Human & Health Services, Michigan State Police, Tri-Township Fire Department, Sturgis Fire Department, and St. Joseph County Victim Services Unit assisted the county sheriff’s office in the investigation.
