Glen Oaks Community College to host healthcare college and employment fair
More than 15 healthcare employers will be present, hiring for a variety of positions, while eight colleges and universities will provide information on educational opportunities in the field.
Glen Oaks Community College will hold its annual Healthcare College & Employment Fair on Tuesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Concourse. The free event is open to the public and offers job seekers and students interested in healthcare careers the chance to connect with local and regional employers as well as colleges offering healthcare programs.
“This event is a great opportunity for those looking to enter or advance in the healthcare field,” said Sara Birch, dean of the Health Science Department at Glen Oaks. “With employers actively hiring and colleges providing pathways to further education, attendees can take meaningful steps toward their career goals.”
According to a release, more than 15 healthcare employers will be present, hiring for a variety of positions, while eight colleges and universities will provide information on educational opportunities in the field. Some employers will conduct on-site interviews and offer conditional hiring. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumes and dress professionally, though no registration is required.
Participating employers include Beacon Health System, Bronson Healthcare Group, Oaklawn Hospital, Parkview Health Systems, and the Veterans Health Administration in Battle Creek, among others. Insight Coldwater and Maple Lawn will offer on-site interviews, with Insight Coldwater also considering conditional hires. Colleges and universities in attendance will include Davenport University, Goshen College, Trine University, University of Michigan-Flint, and Glen Oaks Admissions.

“We don’t have any documentation identifying what property this is,” Anderson said. “We’re in the same position as the public.”

Flock Safety’s license plate reader system has drawn national criticism from civil liberties groups, particularly the American Civil Liberties Union, which argues the technology enables a form of mass surveillance that extends beyond its original purpose.
Boling said there is no “backdoor access” to the system, including for federal agencies such as ICE, and that any data sharing must be approved by the department.
