For hazardous waste disposal, each vehicle may drop off up to 300 pounds of waste for free. Any additional weight will incur a charge of $1.74 per pound. Items accepted include chemicals, electronics, small appliances, and metal materials. However, major appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, fireworks, used motor oil, fire extinguishers, ammunition, biohazards, and propane tanks larger than 20 pounds will not be accepted.

In addition, flags will be collected and given to a local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post for proper disposal. Organizers also remind residents that latex paint is not classified as hazardous waste and should be dried out before being discarded with regular household trash.

No appointment is necessary to participate in the event. For more information, residents can contact the Cass County Administrator’s Office at (269) 445-4420.
