St. Joseph County Conservation District to host annual tree seedling sale

More than 25 varieties of trees and shrubs will be available in May. Seedlings can also be purchased in advance through the district’s website. Pre-orders must be placed by April 25.

The St. Joseph County Conservation District will host its annual spring tree seedling sale May 2 and 3 at the county fairgrounds in Centreville, coinciding with the community garage sale.

More than 25 varieties of trees and shrubs will be available, including white oak, green giant arborvitae, white pine, basswood, dawn redwood, redbud, spicebush and white flowering dogwood.

Seedlings can also be purchased in advance through the district’s website, by mail or by email. Orders must be placed by April 25. Customers also have the option to pick up their orders at the district office.

“At our tree sale, anything that hasn’t already been sold will be available for in-person browsing and purchase by cash or check,” said Ashley Waltke, program support specialist for the Conservation Technical Assistance Initiative.
