St. Joseph County communities set for 4th of July celebrations

Communities across St. Joseph County are preparing for a festive Fourth of July with parades, fireworks, music, and family-friendly activities scheduled throughout the area this week.

Communities across St. Joseph County are preparing for a festive Fourth of July with parades, fireworks, music, and family-friendly activities scheduled throughout the area this week.

Three Rivers will celebrate the holiday with a fireworks show hosted by Family Automotive at 52499 U.S. 131. Festivities begin after 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, with the fireworks starting at dark. Guests are invited to bring their own beverages and can choose to camp on-site from Thursday through Saturday. Additional weekend activities include tubing and a group viewing of the Schoolcraft fireworks on Saturday. Snacks and water will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring tents or campers.

Constantine will mark the holiday with a morning Firecracker 4K Fun Run/Walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Sweetland Stadium. A patriotic parade will follow on Water Street at 11 a.m., with lineup starting at 10:30 a.m. The day will conclude with a fireworks show at the village park. The display is funded by community donations, which are being accepted at the Constantine Village Office or by mail.

Colon will begin its Fourth of July festivities with parade check-in at 9 a.m., followed by float judging at 9:30 a.m. and the parade at 11 a.m. A King and Queen will be crowned downtown at 10:45 a.m. The Midway on North Blackstone Avenue will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with food vendors, bounce houses, games, and live entertainment, including a magic show at 1 p.m. A lakeside flare display, hosted by the Colon Lions Club, will light up Palmer Lake at 10 p.m. on July 3, and the 13th annual Palmer Lake Flotilla will take place on July 6.
