Beacon Health System to acquire four Ascension hospitals in Southwest Michigan

The acquisition will include the Ascension Borgess Hospital ProMed Family Practice in Three Rivers.

Beacon Health System has reached an agreement to acquire Ascension Michigan’s southwest region, a move that will transfer multiple healthcare facilities to Beacon’s network.

The acquisition, expected to be finalized by this summer, will transfer ownership of four hospitals, 35 outpatient clinics, and an ambulatory surgery center from Ascension to Beacon. This includes the Ascension Borgess Hospital ProMed Family Practice in Three Rivers.

According to Beacon, the expansion will allow the health system to extend its service area and adjust to changes in the healthcare landscape. The transition will also shift governance of the facilities to a locally based organization.
