Kalamazoo man flees police, apprehended near Three Rivers Middle School

A Kalamazoo man is currently lodged in St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges after he led deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department on a chase through Three Rivers Friday, April 2.

A Kalamazoo man is currently lodged in St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges after he led deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department on a chase through Three Rivers on Friday, April 2. 

Deputies initially attempted to stop a silver Ford passenger car for a speeding violation on Lutz Road near Fairchild Road at approximately 6:05 a.m. The 28-year-old driving the vehicle fled northbound on Lutz at a high rate of speed into the City of Three Rivers before reaching the area of Sixth Avenue near Riverview Drive where he crashed into a tree stump in the yard of a residence. 

The suspect proceeded to flee on foot and was tracked with the assistance of Three Rivers Police K9 Django to the area of Three Rivers Middle School where he was apprehended by a Michigan State Police trooper.
