The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a recent theft of a vehicle in Lockport Township.

In the early hours of Thursday, August 26, deputies were dispatched to the 17000 block of Apache Trail in Lockport Township in response to a report of a stolen vehicle. Initial investigation into the theft revealed a blue 2012 Ford Escape was taken between 1:30 and 3:30 a.m. The SUV had a peace sign sticker on the right side rear window, and a Georgia peach sticker in the left back window.

Deputies are attempting to identify possible suspects that were observed walking near Tamarac Lane the night of the theft, as local residents told police they witnessed individuals going through other vehicles in the area earlier that evening.
