A 21-year-old Three Rivers man was seriously injured after his vehicle overturned and struck a fence in Park Township early Friday morning.

Deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department determined the driver was traveling eastbound on Moorepark Road near Stevens Lane in Park Township in a Nissan SUV when the crash occurred. The vehicle reportedly went off the edge of the roadway to the right before overcorrecting and veering off the left side of the roadway, where it overturned and struck a fence. A mechanical issue may have been a factor in the crash, according to authorities, and a citation was issued to the driver for an equipment violation.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Three Rivers and Fabius-Park Township Fire Departments.
