A news magazine for the people, powered by the people
Watershed Voice has no owners, is free to all, and we intend to keep it that way.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year, NewsMatch, is officially underway and we need your support to continue this valuable work.

Watershed Voice is the only independent, nonprofit newsroom in St. Joseph County. We have no owners, our content is free to all who wish to read it, and we intend to keep it that way — with your help.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year, NewsMatch, a nationwide campaign to support nonprofit journalism, is officially underway. From now until December 31, we have an opportunity to boost the impact of donations to Watershed Voice, which will help power our newsroom into 2026.
There’s never been a more critical time to protect independent newsrooms like ours — newsrooms that provide an essential public service without corporate oversight or profit driven motives. We don’t publish stories for clicks or clout, we publish stories that are important to our readers that we hope will make a positive impact in their lives, and the lives of their neighbors.
So how can you help us continue this important work? Start a monthly donation or make a one-time contribution between now and December 31.
NewsMatch will match your new monthly donation 12 times or double your one-time gift, all up to $1,000. That means that, through NewsMatch, we can earn up to $30,000.
If you’ve been thinking about becoming a donor to Watershed Voice, this is the best time to do it. Your support will get our NewsMatch campaign off to a solid start and help us headed into 2026.
If you’re a regular supporter, you already know the value of our work, and we thank you. If you’re able to pitch in a little extra in the spirit of NewsMatch and in an effort to bolster independent journalism in our community, we’d be grateful.
Our coverage is geared toward not only pointing out problems but also providing solutions to ongoing issues in St. Joseph, Cass, and Kalamazoo Counties. And over the last five years we’ve been able to do so, in no small part, due to your continued support of our work.
Thank you for believing in Watershed Voice.
With gratitude,
Alek Haak-Frost
