Semi vs. car crash in Constantine Township sends one to the hospital
A 26-year-old Mishawaka, Indiana man was transported to the hospital Tuesday after the vehicle he was driving crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming semi in Constantine Township.
A 26-year-old Mishawaka, Indiana man was transported to the hospital Tuesday after the vehicle he was driving crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming semi in Constantine Township.
Deputies from the St. Joseph County Sherriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of US 131 and Garber Road at approximately 12:33 p.m. Tuesday, September 27 following a report of a two-vehicle crash. Initial investigation at the scene determined that the 26-year-old was traveling northbound on US 131 in a passenger car when he crossed the centerline and struck a semi traveling southbound.
The driver of the semi, a 56-year-old Wimauma, Florida resident, appeared uninjured in the crash, while the driver of the passenger car was transported to Borgess Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
According to authorities, both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of collision and airbags were deployed. Speed is believed to be the cause of the crash, while weather, drugs nor alcohol are considered factors.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Constantine Police Department, Three Rivers Police Department, Constantine, Fabius/Park, and Three Rivers Fire Departments, LifeCare Ambulance, AirCare, MDOT, and Bower’s Towing.

Flock Safety’s license plate reader system has drawn national criticism from civil liberties groups, particularly the American Civil Liberties Union, which argues the technology enables a form of mass surveillance that extends beyond its original purpose.
Boling said there is no “backdoor access” to the system, including for federal agencies such as ICE, and that any data sharing must be approved by the department.
