With the stroke of a pen, Michigan’s one-of-a-kind law that prevented state lawsuits against drug manufacturers, is no more. On Thursday morning in Flint, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed into law a repeal of a nearly 30-year-old law that gave drug manufacturers immunity if their drugs caused harm for Michiganders.
The Moderna and Pfizer bivalent boosters target both the original strain of the COVID-19 virus as well as the two most widely-spread omicron variants (BA.4 and BA.5).
The Moderna booster dose will be available to vaccinated adults. The Pfizer-BioNTech booster is intended for those 12 years and older.
Dr. Farhan Bhatti writes, "While breakthrough cases among those who got the Johnson&Johnson vaccine or the two doses of Pfizer or Moderna do happen, make no mistake — this surge is being driven by unvaccinated individuals."
New hours for the free COVID-19 testing and vaccine clinics at Glen Oaks Community College are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. through December 14.
