20-year-old Sturgis woman transported to hospital after striking parked semi

Shelby Holderbaum, 20, of Sturgis was transported to the hospital early Monday morning after sustaining injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Sturgis Township.

Shelby Holderbaum, 20, of Sturgis was transported to the hospital early Monday morning after sustaining injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Sturgis Township. 

Holderbaum was traveling southbound on White School Road in a pickup truck when she was unable to stop before striking a semi that was parked partially on the roadway. Weather and speed are considered factors in the crash, and Holderbaum was not wearing a seat belt at the time of impact, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Sturgis Police Department, Michigan State Police, LifeCare Ambulance, Tri-Township Fire Department and Chuck’s Towing.
