Local Thanksgiving meals preview for Cass, Kalamazoo, and St. Joseph Counties

Meals open to the public, many of them free, will be provided throughout the area leading up to, during, and after the holiday.

ST JOSEPH COUNTY:

Three Rivers:

Three Rivers Community Impact will serve its weekly Sunday lunch from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, November 24, and Sunday, December 1. The lunch, which is free to the community, is served at Three Rivers First United Methodist Church, 215 N. Main St.

Three Rivers Community Kitchen will serve its Thanksgiving dinner from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, November 26. The dinner is at Trinity Church Parish Hall, 321 N. Main St. All are welcome for a no-cost dinner, and free will offerings will be accepted to help with the cost of the dinner. Trinity Church is closed Thanksgiving Day.

Sturgis:

Gracepoint Baptist Church will hold a free Thanksgiving meal from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday, November 28. The church is at 26268 W. Chicago Rd. Call 651-4227 to RSVP.

St. John’s Episcopal Church, 110 S. Clay St., will not have its Friday Friendship Meal on Friday, November 29.

Burr Oak:

Burr Oak Community Schools will hold its Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 27. Dinner will be served in the small gymnasium, 326 E. Eagle St. A donation of $3 per person is suggested.

Burr Oak Missionary Church will serve a Thanksgiving community dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 27. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge. Dinner is served in the church’s fellowship hall, 327 N. Third St.

Centreville:

Centreville United Methodist will have its regularly scheduled community soup supper from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 27. The supper takes place at the church, 305 E. Main St.

Colon:

Dawn’s Café will be serving from 12-3 p.m. Thursday, November 28, at 105 E. State St. Donations are accepted but not required. Dine in or carryout. No phone orders.

Constantine:

Constantine Community Soup Kitchen will serve its regular soup kitchen meal from 4:30-6 p.m. Monday, November 25. The meals are served to go, drive thru only, at Constantine United Methodist Church, 285 White Pigeon St. Follow signage for pickup. The menu includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit, and a brownie.

Constantine American Legion Post 223 will have a free community Thanksgiving dinner from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, November 28. Legion Post 223 is at 65079 US-131 BUS.


CASS COUNTY:

Cassopolis:

Cassopolis United Methodist Church will have a warm and festive free Thanksgiving dinner from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, November 28. The church is at 209 S. Rowland St., and parking and the best entrance is off of O’Keefe Street. Call 269-445-3107 for more information.

Jones:

Chapel Hill Missionary Church is having its annual Thanksgiving dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 20. The free dinner is at the church, 14525 Chapel Hill St.


KALAMAZOO COUNTY:

Kalamazoo:

God’s Kitchen of Michigan will hold a free community Thanksgiving dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21. The dinner is at the Wesley Foundation, 2350 Ring Rd. N. It will include roasted turkey, vegetables, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and more.

The Global Gratitude Dinner, an international Thanksgiving celebration, will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 21. It’s free and open to the public, happening at the Marilyn J. Schlack Culinary and Allied Health Building (CAH) at Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC). International students will showcase traditional vocal and instrumental performances throughout the night. Catering will be provided by Cairo’s Kitchen, including vegetarian and halal options. KVCC is at 6767 W. O Ave.

Galilee Baptist Church will have its community Thanksgiving dinner from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, November 24. Volunteers are still needed. Galilee Baptist Church is at 1216 N. Westnedge Ave. Call 269-349-5597 to learn more.
