Domestic assault call turns into barricaded gunman situation in Sturgis
The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and is currently lodged at St. Joseph County Jail on multiple felony charges.

Local law enforcement responded to a report of a domestic assault that escalated into a barricaded gunman situation in Sturgis on Tuesday evening.
According to the Sturgis Department of Public Safety, officers from Sturgis and St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Jerolene St. around 7:30 p.m. on July 22. Before officers could establish a perimeter, the suspect reportedly fled the scene.
The suspect was later located in the 200 block of W. Main St. and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was arrested on multiple felony charges and lodged at St. Joseph County Jail.
At this time, law enforcement agencies have not released the individual’s name or specifics about the charges.
