A 29-year-old Vicksburg man is expected to be arraigned Tuesday after the motor vehicle he was driving fatally struck a 10-year-old child in Sherman Township.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said deputies with the road patrol responded Monday to the area of Banker and Balk Road in Sherman Township. They were responding to a report that the motor vehicle had struck multiple school-aged children.

“Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a 29-year-old man from Vicksburg was traveling westbound on Banker Street when he failed to see the children, striking one of them,” the sheriff’s office stated. “Lifesaving measures were attempted, but a 10-year-old child was pronounced dead on scene.”
