Two new business items are on the Sturgis City Commission’s next agenda. The commission is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Items will include the first reading of amendments to Sturgis’ zoning ordinance, as well as the first reading of a proposed zoning district amendment for 909 E. Chicago Rd.
The 214-page zoning ordinance includes definitions of everything from “abandonment” (“The cessation of activity in, or use of a dwelling, structure, or lot, other than that which would normally occur on a seasonal basis, for a period of 12 months or longer.”) to the “zoning envelope” (“The three-dimensional space within which a structure is permitted to be built on a lot, which is defined by maximum height regulations and yard setbacks.”).
The meeting agenda is available below. Sturgis City Hall is located at 130 N. Nottawa St. A full accounting of recent commission business can also be found on the city’s website.
